I don't know if it was the proper carb, but it was the one on the truck when I got it, 5 +/- years ago. 1952, round top? 52,5 hp max.
That dyno run was WITH the headers and intake, B&B carb. Max 56.6 HP was up 4 hp from the stock breathing and stock carb. BUT it was also making 2" vacuum at full throttle, so carb was tooo small. I went to a BBD 2bbl from a 318, for much better power, measured by the 'seat of the pants 'dyno'. Only 1/2" vacuum now. I'll do another dyno run some day... might make 65 hp now?
The flat head combustion chamber design is pretty primitive, and limits what can be done. The physics of having the center of combustion so far from the center of piston is the problem. It is why so many high engine maker have gone to 10-12 cylinders to gain efficiency. It's a matter of burning flame front reaching the far end before the piston is already retreating.
