I did some haying on the dairy I grew up on. I came to the conclusion the only good bale was one that no human could possibly pick up, =)
Actually I did a whole lot of cutting,crushing and raking from the time I was about 12 until the summer I was 17. That summer I was offered a job driving a 2 ton GMC truck for real money. Dad didn't like it much but I sure did. My brother ended up hauling TONS of bales over the next several years which he still complains about. He shouldn't as I was dodging (literally) bullets in VN.
BTW, Dad had one of the first haybines in the NW and then I think he did end up buying the very first self propelled one.
