For the very nice words of encouragment!
It took me about 8 years altogether, and I only have a few small details to finish, but it is road legal and I have been driving it locally in the last week. The first drive was a real thrill, I will tell you! People tend to stare in amazement.
The color is Dodge truck deep purple blue, which was made up for me by PPG. This is an obsolete Dodge color but the local PPG rep did some research with PPG corporate to be able to come very close to the original color.
I got a build card from Chrysler that told me the origignal color and other interesting details, but I sort of knew in general about the color from a few places, like the inside of the wiper covers.
My truck was a brush fire truck for the Kirkwood, N.Y. VFD most of its life, and they painted it red over the original blue.
The armored rubber brake hoses I got from VPW.
I will be trailering it to the West Va Rally next month for its first rally trip.
I live in southern Maryland, St. Mary's County, and if any of you are down this way (by the Chesapeake Bay) let me know and we can rendezvous.
I owe a debt of gratitude to many here in the "PW family" who helped with innumerable questions during the long process. I am a believer in "pay it forward" so try to help others with what I have learned.
