Yes you can back off the shoes,unbolt the axle slide it out. Unbend the lock tabs on the spindle nut. Remove both nuts and bearing and pull it out as a assembly. Darn heavy though.
Either way will work..
Would seam to me to be easier to reassemble and adjust if just had the drum to deal. with. But then I have 4 wheel power disc's on mine.
