if the metal is as thick as you say, either a bench mounted lever handled cutter or a plasma cutter might be the ticket. the lever machine is seen on orange county choppers. they use it to cut irregular parts for tanks, etc. id go plasma if i had a need. they have come down in price and are easy to use once set up.
