John,

If you look at the picture above 2 pieces of info will help you ID the truck. Both the numbers in the upper corners will answer this question.

The number in the upper right is the model, in the case of the one shown it is labeled VEH. MODEL and says WM30 for WM300. I am guessing that the number will be W100, or W10 on the truck you are looking at.

The number in the upper left is marked SERIAL NO. and says 2461677792. Your number will be something like 2181675465.

Get one of those two numbers off the tag. None of the other numbers will help though the number second from the left is the GVW, and only if that read 10000 would I look further to see if it is a 1 ton. My guess is that it will not.

In any case, get one of those three numbers, Serial, Model, or GVW.

If the tag is too worn to read go to the frame. Given that it is a AZ truck the frame should be clean, and the frame number should be readable. The frame number is stamped on the passenger side, facing out, between the axle and the cab. If you don't find it there try between the axle and the front of the frame. The Frame number will match the serial number on the door jamb.

Get some numbers, ask the seller to send you the pictures full size, not the size they were in the ad, and all of this can be cleared up very quickly. Or if the seller can not do those things, post the location and see if anyone else can go check it out for you if you are not close. Pay them for their fuel, and someone will be willing to run over and take a look if they are nearby. Don't worry, there are not a lot of guys trying to jump you in line to buy a basic 1967 W100 with a Sweptline bed.

If you were looking at a 1959 W300 with a 9 foot bed I would recommend you keep any leads you have to yourself.

Eric
