Hi Chris.
You can spray it with lacquer, or probably any other clear coat you like, but I would be concerned about what happens when the clear coat starts to fail. Maybe you could do a search for companies that make copper flashing, fascias, and other trim for houses. They offer their products unfinished for those who like the patina look, and finished for those who like the bright look. See what they are using. How's that new dog doing? JH
