Not sure why it would be difficult. I mounted 5 9.00 X 16 Michelin XL tires on my combat rims. I never balanced them. I can go any speed up to 80+ and have no vibrations from the tires. So to me it does not seem to be a big deal.
The FF split rims with Michelin XZLs or bias tires it has been a pain to get them balanced. Not sure why.
It seems that my experience is the opposite of what you expected.
