1980 Jeff Ho reminds me of the clip I saw on my last trip to Pavones of Buttons and Rory Russel surfing the point. Story goes Buttons, Gerry Lopez and Russel had discovered Pavones a few years back and periodically would decend on her. Then fowley got involved and thatīs another story. They were both rippin but Buttons was blowing up, he must have been what they have modeled modern surfing off of. He was doing airs, backside and frontside 360s in the barrel. He was so fluid both frontside and backside(switch stance) you really couldnīt tell which was normal, completely mindblowing.
