You know this Dodge/Ford/Chevy thing is a load of "Stinky"
All three have made very good trucks and some not so good trucks. Today neither of these companies are what they use to be. Now it is all about money and marketing. Trucks are not what they use to be which is good and bad. The modern diesel pickups are a far better work truck than what was available in the past. The interiors are better for us but are much more than is really needed. The body work is very thin and less durable while the drive trains are much better.
Cars and trucks look so much like the other brands. Each follows the other out of the fear of being left behind. There are very few new vehicles that really stand out in their design (except for a few high end ones). The last real break away in pickup design was when Dodge come out with the front clip with their distinctive hood and fender design which went away form the boxy front end. But as you know every one followed them within a few years.
The older cars and trucks were more distinctive and had some nice body design work in them. They were also much more utilitarian and simple which I believe a lot of us really like as it represents a time when life itself was easier and more simple it self.
