the rear diff was built with NOS parts such as the locking tabs, studs and nuts. All were torqued to the manuals spec of 40ft-lbs. The carrier has new bearings and the spider gears are new with the metal thrust washers installed of the bakelite ones. I guess maybe the end cap pin came out first and jammed up the ring gear/pinion maybe.. causing the studs to break?. I may never know. Terry
