If you are doing it yourself I'd HIGHLY suggest getting some Bright strip discs. I strip my sheetmetal to bare to do the dolly work and once that's done I sandblast. I use the discs to get the flatter areas clean and leave the nooks and crannys for the sand blaster.
I tried several different methods and this by far the best so far. My cab had 9 layers, 2 of which was brushed on at some time. Stripping flat areas keeps the warp potenial down and less time under the hood while sandblasting.
The discs I use are made by Standard Abrasives and carry the part # 811027. If someone wants to host pics I'll send them so you can see them. 2 discs did my cab in less than 2 hours.
The best part about them is they don't load up and they cut the same from start to finish UNLIKE what sandpaper does.
