Tim, if engine has been rebuilt the eeeded probably refers to piston/bore relationship - slight differences were often recorded like this to assist re-assembly. If memory serves the engine number looks like an industrial number. Engine could have been used in a header or similar farm equipment, or even a forklift.
I'll check my records and see if anything turns up there.
