Jeremy: I see how your spacer would work. By locating the inner wheel approx. one inch further out the offset wheel will clear the backing plate. When using one conventional wheel and one offset wheel the spacer has to be between the wheels to provide tire clearance. I would consider your set-up, but cross-country shipping would be a killer.....Randy
