So much for people saying 2010 was going to be like 1910 in terms of dryness. Been great mushroom picking from what I hear. I even stumbled on some morels myself without looking. If it stays like this, it should be a good huckleberry year too. The huckleberries like a cold wet June. The snow's gone off most of the high roads, but the ground is soaked and there are springs flowing in places where I never even saw a spring before. Seen deer, elk, moose, and bear, but no wolves or wolf sign yet. I think last year's wolf hunt taught the wolves to keep their distance from anything human. That'll be a better arrangement for both species.
