Look like plastic, (cheap?) snapped on the nuts. Round on the nut end, pointy opposite, all put on pointing backwards compared to wheel direction. Loose nuts would easily show as a pointer turned in the wrong direction. Easier than checking with a wrench.
So far as strength, even the cracked rims have all the metal still there. ;) I guess I would run the cracked ones inside rear, the other wheel will act like a big washer to hold it on. Didn't all the cracks happen in outer/front positions?
OT, is this the mine outside Tuscon? My friend Ollie Baum gave tours there a few years ago. Parkinson's last I talked to him, pretty bad.
