Now, I do think that a Government endorsed/hosted meeting of experts to come up with solutions would be a good thing. It is becoming obvious that BP is clueless on how to handle the problem.
Maybe they have done this already, but the lacking leadership has not communicated this to the public. With the lack of communication, it feels like the whole thing is out of control with absolutely no plan.
Perhaps the government could also initiate a task-force response team of private companies to address these issues in the future.
However, I am afraid that we are going to end up with an Enviromental Protection Agency that will be an overfunded bureaucracy and impotent to address such issues ... wait, we already have one of those.
Now, I would not be againgst the government donating a "Daisy Cutter" to the cause to implode the whole area in on itself.
