I always like it when they argue with you that part they list IS the correct part and it'll work when the mounting holes don't even line up! I've learned to ALWAYS take the part with me and open ALL the boxes as it seems parts are always missing.
Last one was special ordered disc brake calipers. One was a correct single piston while the other box WITH correct part number was a 3 piston with totally different mounts. Boxed wrong.
Another thing is to always have them check starters, alts. and such too. I got a "rebuilt" starter and installed it and truck acted the same. Took it apart and found the contact disc was arced out and NEVER replaced. The least they could have done was flip it over. Took it back and took 2 to get one that worked. Bead blasting must mean rebuilt now ;) Lesson learned.
I also got a remanufactured head for a small block that had a VISIBLE crack in it. Never even got the shrink wrap off of it. Took it back in the store and the owner called the company and instantly company rrep on the phone blamed me for improper installation. Store told him to shut the %*$@ up as I'd never even left the store. Makes you wonder how many heads are "precracked" for your pleasure. I've since gone to magnifluxing before I accept. Cheap insurance in the long run.
