Transmission Expert Needed!

Hi all,

I have the big spur gear trans on my 56 PW and have what may be a worn pin/cover housing at the top where the shift level comes out. Not sure what the purpose of the pin is in relation to the shift level, a stop I guess, but mine has a lot of side play moving back and forth in the housing. I imagine when these are new, that pin fits snug in the housing and I should'nt have that play??? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks everyone!
