I don't know about the r.p.m.s at speed, but the data plate on my '52 B-3-PW says the factory top speed is 46 m.p.h.. HOWEVER, the tires make a big difference. I'm running tubeless tires with good rims. I cruise at 30, it starts to whine a little extra at 35 and at 40 it is really screaming. The flat head six is a durable engine with lots of torque but does not like high speeds.
With the old nylon tires that were on there when I got it, top speed was around 32 comfortably. This was after the flat spots from sitting worked themselves out.
