Remember you can shave up to 70 thou off these heads and engines still run OK on petrol. Tweaked flatheads run up to around 9.5 to 1 on petrol. LPG works fine in all sorts of tugs and forklifts with flathead engines.
Having owned and worked on engines running dual fuel setups since the mid 60's, the main thing is to be able to advance the timing around 10 degrees above the regular setting to get the best out of the LPG. This can be a pain when switching from one to the other, but easy on straight gas applications.
The higher compression ratio definitely helps.
