Propane has been used as a supplement fuel for diesels for a long time. As well as water/methanol injection. Some people combine both kits (propane and water/methanol) for serious horsepower gains.
Look on some of the bigger aftermarket diesel websites or search for propane injection or water/methanol injection kits. Propane acts like Nos, cooling down the combustion chamber, the same thing with the water/methanol mixture, which reportedly creates a scrubbing action in the combustion chamber and helps to remove soot.
