Thanks for the offer. I'll keep that in mind. And I agree, just replacing the rod bearing is like putting electrical tape around a leaky hose. I would want to make sure the oil passages are clear, and how do you really do that without disassembling the engine?
The engine is a T137, and looks to be all original. I don't believe it's ever been opened up.
I also suspect the oil pump was failing or had failed. The truck was running a little erratic, like it wasn't getting spark all the time, right before it quit. So, whether the seizure was immediate or gradual, I will never know.
I wanted the truck for an occasional driver, not to restore, although it's certainly worthy of a full restoration.
I will be looking for a good, running engine, if I can find one. Or I might just cut my losses and sell the truck to someone who wants to do the restoration.
Or I might have a client call and want a million dollar house on the lake this summer. Then things will be different. But I won't hold my breath for that one.
