Tubeless have a inner compound that is less porous. Cheaper to make a tube type that depends on the tube to seal. See all those old split ring trucks running 7.50 tires? They are probably tubeless. Plus ALL of the Michelin XL/ZXL are tubeless, with tubes stuffed in..
