I use plastic jugs, 6 gal. They can hold more as they slowly expand. No corrosion to worry about. I usually have one or two full of Avgas (100 octane low lead), since it will not degrade like auto fuel. It will last for many years if kept sealed. I always run some in my small engines in the fall so the carbs don't need to be cleaned or rebuilt every spring. Around here it is about $4 per gallon, the only real down side other than spewing some lead. You can use a credit card at any airport that sells fuel, and no N-number needed.
To me, it smells great, burning or not -
reminds me of airplanes!
