When I was 5-6 years old my dad bought a 49 Dodge 1 ton that had a very tired engine. He got a Chrysler "SpitFire" engine from the wrecking yard and put it in - moved the radiator to the front of the U mount. I loved that rig. Sometimes mom would be gone and I would talk dad into going out to eat and take me in the truck. The truck was around well into my high school years and I worked on it a fair amount. The Crysler engine had one of the tower type full flow filters. There was a stamped steel tower with the canister that bolted to a triangular shaped boss on the block. The plumbing was 1/2" steel tubing with inverted flare ends. Another thing this truck had was the optional factory brush grill made from formed flat bar. Thanks for the memories...
