I had a front tire blow out on my M35 driving through the elevated part of I-90 in downtown Spokane. No trailer, fortunately, but still with 8 wheels in the rear trying to go straight ahead and only one in the front trying to turn, plus "armstrong" steering, it was a bear to keep it under control. Plus, bumper-to-bumper traffic in all lanes. There are no shoulders on that elevated part so I had to drive it on the rim to the first exit, which of course totally destroyed the tire and all evidence of what caused the blow-out.
As for super singles, I'd never have them on my deuces because there have been many times I've gotten a flat on one of the rear tires and it was great to be able to drive down off steep one-lane mountain road, or out of the snow storm, and change it in a convenient place. Often, I'll just drive all the way to a tire shop with one tire of a dual set flat, though there's always a risk of spinning a tube that way. It depends on the weather and how close the tire shop is. The only times I've actually spun tubes is when I didn't even know I had a flat until I checked the tires much later, so I have no idea how far I drove on the flat. When you look at the wheel and there's no valve stem sticking through it, that's a pretty good indication that the tire is out of air.
