I completely empathize with you. I had to put my best friend down a couple of years ago. He had developed diabetes and we were never able to control it adequately. The vet was out of town so I had to do it myself. One of the hardest things I've ever had to do. Our remaining dog continued to look for him for days afterward which made it even harder. The hard part of being a dogs best friend is to know when to let him or her go. I truly feel for you.
