reasonably placed shots .22 or .22 sub sonic, even .17 airgun will work if you can get close enough, say within 30 ft and place shot in center mass or head. i'm kina fond of .22 subsonics for unwanted guest removal, quiet, effective for say 75 ft or so. for pigions i'd wait until after dark when they are "at roost" and light them with minimal light required for clean shot, the birds will not want to fly in the dark.
