On the brake master, the fat o-ring seals to the end of the master bore. Then the metal disc with holes in it seal against the o-ring. That valve usually snaps into the return spring. The combination is the "residual pressure valve" that keeps just a couple psi in the lines. It keeps the cups in the slaves sealed, preventing air from invading. i SUPPOSE THE CLUTCH MASTER HAS ONE TOO? . (OOPS, HIT CAPS LOCK) That should do it?
Otherwise, I doubt that you can screw up honing. The fluid viscosity ought to prevent air getting sucked in from the open end.
