You can get them cheap, I bought one out of a junkyard near Pittsburgh PA for $40 in 2002, but that was just luck. With all the hunting I do I have only managed to get 6 in the last 8-10 years and I found a lot of those online, not in junkyards. Matt has the pricing about right for the open market. I saw one on E-bay a while back bring over $1,000 un-restored with the wrong knobs. I think that was just one buyer pushing against a high reserve though, not a bidding war.
You're bidding against the Sweptside guys, and those trucks can sell for over $50,000 restored, some guys have gotten over $70,000 when the market was a little stronger.
