Best method is to park the truck in the sun on a hot day. A plumbing torch or a heat gun will work if you don't want to wait for a hot sunny day, but there's a catch with that: it's easy to burn/melt the decal before the glue gets hot enough to come loose. If you can get to the back side and heat the metal rather than the decal, then you're in like Flynn. Otherwise, I've had some luck by working most around the outside of the decal and heating the surface of them lightly and patiently, since you need to conduct enough heat through the fairly non-conductive decal to heat up the very conductive metal behind it. Solvents are no good because they don't penetrate the plastic of the decals and the strong ones will wreck the paint. A little solvent can be used to remove the remaining adhesive residue after you've peeled the plastic off, if you're not too concerned about your paint. Far and away the best is the hot sunny day method, though. Then you should be able to get your knife under the corners and peel them right off.
By the way, heat also makes a huge difference if you have to put decals on in cold weather. Use a heat gun to get the metal "hot sunny day" warm (almost too hot to touch), and the decals will lay down nice and flat and stick really well.
