Hi Johnathan,
You need to bleed the master cylinder...always.
It's best to do it on the bench but if you have it installed already, just undo the line & make a new short piece of line that loops from the fitting, back into the reservoir. slowly push the pedal in & out until no more bubbles appear in the reservoir. No hook your brake lines back up & try again.
