the ford f150 is the sales leader because it is cheap and suits the needs of 99% of those who drive them. some people prefer a truck and never do more than haul groceries. The dodge of old was a purpose built vehicle and even had a special equipment group to tailor make trucks to a customer's specific need. when dodge made a turn toward suiting the mass market, IMO, they lost their way. its not always best to sell the most, its always better to sell the best. the trucks in your caption epitomized the real dodge. from the fade of the above trucks to the advent of the cummins diesel, dodge's offerings were pretty lame. i like the slant 6 better than the ford 300 6, but likely the truck wrapped around the engine was better from ford. i just bought a 2010 diesel megacab and major reservations about buying a mexican truck from a company bailed out by the govt. i looked hard at the fords, but their diesel setup is not anywhere close to the cummins. did i compromise my morals by buying the best? i'll be sure not to fill it up at citgo!
