paypal is the easiest and most effective way to transfer money over the web. Most "old people" (no offense) don't like it because the internet is often a foreign place and they are paranoid. Maybe it's paranoia left over from the old snake oil salesmen. Either way, take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with it and you will never have a problem. I have transfered thousands of dollars over the years with it and never once ran into trouble. Now I know I'm only 22 and can't claim to have years of experience dealing with scams, but I can tell you that PayPal is perfectly safe so long as you keep yourself informed.
