If I understood right, I have a hard time believing the one about the tire REseating itself onto the bead and blowing when it was broke down on one side. I'm with others that the high pressure would play a major factor in this and normal atmospheric pressure/oxygen would make it hard, in my mind, to happen That one sounds more like someone using ether to seat it and looking for an excuse.
That said, I'd probably take it off anyway though.
