W 300

I have a 69 W 300 and cannot fit the spare tire in its intended spot. The tires are Michelin 900x16 XZL. Chris Wetherell posted a picture of his truck that appears to have the same tires but the spare appears to be different. Do I have to find a smaller tire or a fender with the indentation?
