I would recommend adding an adjustable one. My cars with all disk brakes have them.
The front brakes on a vehicle do about 70% of the stopping. On an unloaded truck it could be even more due to the weight bias.
My Dakota had disk/drum and the rear drums had a proportioning valve attached to the rear suspension. As the load in the bed increased the rear brake bias would decrease (more stopping force).
