Jon,I do weld for a living, I've been using a jackson hood for 12 yrs. or so and like it very much. it is adjustable for everything and is nice, but very heavy, when I go under my car or truck I reach for my wifes hood, (welder also) a speedglas, it's lighter and much, much easier to deal with under a truck or car. lying on your back working on a frame or bracket a heavy hood will be very hard to keep in position, it will slip and fall and in general be a pain. on the other hand a speedglas is light, doesn't fog as bad and is a good hood. my jackson takes two double a's and the wyfe's speedglas takes two funny looking little batteries about the size of a quarter, ALWAYS keep spares in your tool box!! go with the speedglas, for what we do it's the best out there. stay away from the chinese knock-offs, your eyes are too valuable to even take a million to one chance on messing up on some cheap lense. keep in mind that the chinese do not care in the least if they burn your eyes up. Dave.
