There are 4 basic styles of escutcheons used in the 46-68 PWs. Early black painted steel with an internal spring, later 46-50 smaller chrome plated with an internal spring (sometimes nickel plated, not sure when exactly), 1951 up Rubber (used in various colors through the years), 1951-52ish also sometimes got a larger chrome or nickel plated internal spring version.
