I my case on the 46, it started with a brake job. Granted the truck doesn't have the correct engine, bed and the winch is gone, but the 49 I have is close to stock, that I felt no damage in a little improvement on a truck I plan to drive as much as I can.
Since I had them and the truck's brakes were in bad need of a repair I went with Disc in the front and rebuilt the rear drums. I always have the reoccurring nightmare of not being able to stop, so brakes are a critical item to me.
This lead me to the dual circuit master cylinder, and how to install it. I tried to put it in the stock location, but not enough room, Looked at the 67-71 pedal assembly, and based on it's price/availability and my experience with the trucks frame twisting causing accelerator and clutch binding/activation issues, I decided to more to the hanging pedals.
What was left of the trucks seats were shoot, and the quick fix back when we got it was the Ranger seats. I've since moved it back to a set of Dodge Dakota seats, although bucket, not bench.
I'll also be upgrading the truck to electric wipers, but just from a newer PW, as my experience with the vacuum units are less than desirable for safety.
At some point I'll probably do an engine upgrade to get back to at least stock power if not more, as the old Plymouth 215/8 cu in. is a little shy of power.
But as we all know our trucks are ours, and we all make the little tweaks to them to put them to use how we will enjoy them. Few of these trucks stayed stock when the left the dealer, how many were put to work doing things no one imaged.
I love a great condition stock truck, but is we all had them in pristine stock condition , this would not be near as much fun.
