Dave, sounds like a motor I'd like to see & drool on(I like the big motors) almost worth the the trip to Kellog to look see. you mention the mine leaving the motor there when it closes, I know the location of a steam engine gen set in the basement of the gym in a catholic girls school that has been there since the early 1900's(gen set) hasn't run since the 30's but is still there unmolested. the bad part is the engine base is cast as a part of the gen base, one piece!!. I think the boiler is seperate from the engine and gen, but all the piping is still there. the shame is that one day some min. wage kid will dismantle it and not even know what he's taking apart or how much history is being lost, all to put another 50 cents into someones pocket. well, enough for this rant, Dave.
