I got better results just by feeling the edge of the pressure plate versus the edge of the disc. "Clutch covers" usually have three openings pressed into the outer perimeter. Feel thought them with your finger tips, and make all three places feel the same overlap. Discs are smaller then the iron pressure plate. Then snug down the bolts a little at a time. Tightening them unevenly may bend the cover.

But if you can hook the throwout bearing in to the fork, and adjust the linkage. Then when you push on the clutch pedal, the disc can move around. If you have a helper that can turn the engine over by hand, that helps too. Or put the tranny in 4th, and turn the out put yoke.
