That must be painful;-) Anyway I bought a couple old style English made 9/16x5/8 open end spanners at the swap meet for $2 the pair. Reason was these are much wider and heavier construction around the open part than regular spanners and being almost unused they were a very good fit on those nuts. With a piece of pipe slipped over to extend the handle I set the torque to somewhere near the right value. Attach a good spring balance at 18" from the center of the nut and tighten to 0.75 of the required torque. You could do it at a foot @ 100%, but I found it hard to get purchase. I believe the correct method with this arrangement is to attach the flywheel before you install the crank - may also be possible with a C spanner if you remove the pan and rear main bearing cap.
