I saw an article in an old book from 1939 that says that the flathead six should have 40% anti freeze added in fall for the winter months in it's cooling system, but in the spring the coolant should be flushed out and no anti freeze should be used for the summer months only water and a rust inhibitor. My truck has anti freeze and does good in winter, without antifreeze it takes forever to warm up,but come summer it overheats for some reason if I leave the anti freeze in it. If I flush it and use only water and a rust inhibitor it does well. No more over heating. But rust inhibitor is not enough to keep rust in check.Do any of you guys have this problem?
