I finally got around to putting new shocks on my 41 WC. The originals didn't work at all, and made for a bouncy ride. I had a set of stock gas shocks from my 92 Jeep Wrangler laying around, so I put them on the truck.
The front shocks have a stud mount on 1 end and a normal shock mount on the other. I made a small plate with a slight bend to extend the stock mounting hole forward. This provides a mounting hole for the shock and moves it forward so the steering doesn't hit. For the top mount I welded a plate to the frame with a bolt for the shock mount.
In the rear I just used a bolt through the shock to the stock mount on the bottom, and welded a bolt to the frame for the top mount. The ride is alot better now, I should have done it long ago. My truck is far from stock, so originality wasn't an issue.
If anyone is restoring to original and want a set of stock shocks, let me know, I'll let them go cheap.
