Where does M37 tach hook up

My M37 has a hole in the instrument panel next to the speedometer, which I assume is where the tach used to be. I turned up a couple of what look to be standard military 0-4000 RPM tachs so I thought I'd try to find the cable and put one in the M37, but I have no idea where it could connect to. I'm thinking there must be some sort of speedometer gear deal on the distributor or near the timing chain or something. Can anybody help me?
