As stated, the other then cubic inches, the only noticable difference is the internally vs externally balanced engines. A 360 is basically a stroked 318, so you get a big improvement on torque. Fuel economy is bad with both engines, so don't even factor that in.
In a heavy vehicle that is also daily driven, a big block engine would probably give you better economy because it doesn't have to work as hard, but will it fit?
If you're just starting to look for a donor engine, don't rule out the late model Magnum engines. Even when returned to carbs, they are superior in performance and economy to the older LA engines.
