I would bet that the auto antifreeze has other additives for corrosion and lubrication. I would assume if it is advertised as non-toxic they cant be to bad but may want to be careful.
Side note fire sprinkler systems use Propelene glycol for small outdoor systems and it is food grade I believe. Might call a fire sprinkler supply company like Fergeson.
