Due to the weight of a sheet of 3/16" diamon plate, I did strips fore/aft. I forget the width of each piece, I could measure tomorrow.
I did it so they would be equal width. then I welded the strips to each cross member and some other spot welds in between each cross member. Finally sealed all the seams with #M seam seal.
